Whether the rehabilitation of nervous, muscular and moving coordination at Cerebral Palsy is possible?
We approximated to a solution of the problem as physicists and sportsmen.
What is occurs, if on a computer hard disk there are bad blocks? The
information which has been written down on such blocks is lost and a failure
of the program's work occurs. What does the operator makes? Does it
cast away the computer? No! He runs the program, that writes in each block
of a hard disk (memory) the certain information , for example - sequence
of ones. After that reading the written information and comparison of it
with initial is made. If it is read two ones (???) - block is considered
as a good. Even if only one zero appears - the block is bad. In the beginning
and in the end of the block the labels are put. These labels forbid to the
computer (operational system) to be addressed to the failured sites of a disk. The computer again is as new one, only volume of its memory decreases on volume taken by bad sites (bad-blocks). Such operation refers to as formatting of a disk. Similarly it is possible to check up and analytical functions of the computer.
The person with CP has failured sites of a brain, peculiar functional
"bad-blocks". In early children's age due to availability of such failures
abnormal neuron connections are formed and generated functional system is
finding as distinct from genetically given one.
Result is spasticity, hyperkinesis, atony, motor stereotypes, ability to
support balance are infringed, the ability to concentrate attention on
fulfilment of given works is reduced, the speech is infringed. Despite of
a huge reserve (more than 90 %) of brain cells, the anomalies are
fixed and it is considered that it is impossible to reconstruct a functional
system or, at least, it is extremely difficult.
Connected with this the infringement of motor activity as the person is
developed increases a degree of incorrect functional connections formation.
And though CP is not progressing disease, the defect of motor activity in
length of time results in amyotrophy, circulation of the blood infringement
and difficulty of transfer of nervous pulses through peripheral nervous
system, infringement of proprioceptive sensitivity.
The similar infringements occur and at other illnesses that acting the
central nervous system - stroke, torsion dystonia, multiple sclerosis.
As experience shows, under certain conditions CNS is capable to work
correctly.
For example, music with prevalence of low frequencies, low-frequency
vibroacoustic impact in some cases reduces spasticity, allows to increase an
amplitude of movements. Very frequently a person with spasticity or
hyperkinesis in the certain emotional mood is capable to carry out correct
movements. For example - being ridden on the horse. It is a base for
hippotherapy. It means, that in a number of cases the person with
infringements of CNS has enough interneuron connections that correspond
to genetically given ones and he can use them.
Whether it is possible, by analogy to the computer, "reformatting" a brain at
CP? How to include new connections with healthy sites of a brain and to
exclude the infringed ones from circulation? How the abnormal formed system
can be reinformed ? You see the nature has taken care, that after formation of
functional system the brain has appeared "closed" for reorganization, that
provides stability of further organism 's existence.
To try to answer these questions, it is necessary to understand,
what is such functional system, what is hidden behind its infringements
and whether there is an opportunity to remove these infringements.
